Hyena away in Verona
17 settembre 09: away at Abitare il Tempo
Week furnishing Venetian opened yesterday. I was there.
With all good intentions.
Already on the Eurostar, although it was dawn, I acted like a mandala, "I must be good, I must look with optimism the efforts of companies grappling with the crisis, I have to stop

After crossing the entrance of the Exhibition saw pink. Walking the halls at a time, I saw pink.
Among the stand I started seeing double.

At seven I leap for joy
A remarkable piece, finally. The light Arba Matteo Thun to the Swiss Belux is beautiful, eco uses low-energy fluorescent bulbs, is environmentally friendly beechwood and certified, has even the electric wire of red fabric. Perfect. Very stilish also stand in a somber charcoal gray, with the silhouettes of the furniture and white drawing a citation in Latin of Vitruvius. In short, the famous oasis in the desert of the project.

And beyond the furniture, coffee shop, flower shop, bookstore. As illustrated Chicco Bestetti space, I tasted the selection of food made by those inItaly (www.initalyexcellence.com). Do not tell you the enjoyment of my taste buds seduced by a bundle of fresh zucchini stuffed with treats and a taste of chili jam. Pity to miss a glass of (good) wine! (Come on!)
Prince Charming Macef offered me lunch
Left Milan without a penny, hoping the hospitality of the Verona Fair.
Nothing. Fortunately, the compassionate gentleman from AT House (thanks Alessandro!) That I already had help in Milan, he shared with me a Sushi Box and a sparkling.
Designed and maintained various restaurants. Points in favor of Verona Fiere. No Autogrill here fortunately.
Too bad for the sake of aesthetics, Simone Micheli has designed the coffee table waaay low to X sessions accompanying veeery uncomfortable. You know the balloons inflatable Tecnogym, those who use the gym? Imagine eat sushi with chopsticks: I rolled and rolled my morsels of seaweed.
All's well that ends well
After the trip very exciting exhibition I returned to Milan and I am running from SKITSCH.
The new brand of Italian design presented the 2010 catalog with a cocktail party so much fun. Meanwhile, because they served Krug rosé. Champagne is always a brilliant harp.
And then because there were beautiful people and beautiful pieces.
In short, Milan, Verona, Milan: hurray Skitsch.
And good design to everyone.

One day at Macef
This is a co-production.
Home alone: a drama in three acts. Then find the Prince Charming in the guise of an editor AT HOME. Nothing sentimental, eh. But together is better. And the nightmare becomes (almost) in a fairy tale. With two of us that we roam to stand more or less beautiful finding the humor and, finally, a toast with a spumantino (to design, of course).
The Drama
Scene One: I leave the house and the idea of going to Rho by metro terrifies me (it's too late, did not know what lipstick to wear for the event). Call a taxi. Never mind if I have my own pocket to pay me the 40 euros that are used to arrive at Macef, the Milan fair settembrini object. It 'Friday, I'm tired, I'm not already excited about the prospect fair. I spend and I'm comfortable.
Scene Two: For the first year the credit card of Macef, I came to the office. I lined up in the press. Strangely crowded, since they are already eleven. And then I do not think the people are around: I get suspicious and ask. Have (inexplicably) combined the two files, one of the employees and that of the visitors. Me indignant. Is not to make the princess, but I'm haste. Gain the card and opening the turnstiles. Already overheated, dispirited and disaffected (but once those printing indulging them: Give me back my privileges, help me to endure the maldipiedi that inevitably I'll have end-turn).
Scene Three: What am I doing here, I want to return to South America where I spent the (very short) vacation. I look at the corridors, the halls, the list participants Macef. Everything looming. She takes a lump in my throat: we are only the beginning of September. Pity. And then, behold, it is what the cute little thing there. But little. The crisis is palpable. Unfortunately.
Comes the Prince Charming is on foot and dragging a trolley blue.
'But from here, too, how are you'. In two is easier to see the beauty of design! We collect press kits, we like the cutlery for Alessi signed by Chipperfield (and also the cup of Miriam Mirri dedicated to children), I note that the color palette of Vera Wang for Wedgwood china is beautiful (to be published, ed), also beautiful pieces of Urquiola for Rosenthal. We love with monsters Yorkers UGLYDOLLS (www.uglydolls.com) and the meanest (and brilliant) jap Bears Be @ rbrick (www.bearbrick.com). Ballarini those issues with their pans (the pasta set, the crepiera, etc etc) have had a great idea. And the radio of certified wood (no logging of forests) that come from Indonesia are FANTASTIC (www.woodenradio.com). Although faccciamo photos and shout at us: "We of the press" I say hit her. They reply, "Well, however, ask before taking, no?" Han pure reason, no.
E 'lunchtime: panic, where to eat?
Note always sore. As the Show, more than snacks are not. The area accommodations organized by press Cosmit is as big as my house (which is a two-room) and a crowded commuter train on Monday morning. There is a restaurant for Sadler, but we are penniless. The Bar Autogrill are the apotheosis of the non-design (why not import the new format, the Ecogrill opened in Mensa Ravenna and designed by Giulio Ceppi, www.totaltool.it). 'I go to the Bar Massaud or to that of Van Duysen? I choose the vegetarian Sushi Bistro or farm? ' Questions would not be worthy of a festival of the project? Fair blessed you, I know you do so much already, that it is difficult etc. But please: DO IT BETTER.
We want a Macef Satellite
The crisis has left gaps between the stands of the famous Macef. Yet it would take only a little 'passion to polish the old (yes, old but expensive) Macef. A little accuracy, a youth section (where host who has little money and lots of ideas), shows a stronger one. Why not organize a themed event convivial designers a year, a year the heads of design, one year students of the academies of the project. I'm sure that for you Macef would do for free. Make yourself competitive, my goodness, here comes sleep.
